Start here: make a prediction before reading

A hypothesis is a specific, testable prediction about what you expect to observe. It must be precise enough that an experiment can prove it wrong.

Vague statements like 'plants need light to grow' aren't hypotheses—they're observations. A real hypothesis says: 'Plants grown under blue light will grow 20% taller than those under red light in 4 weeks.'

Every time you say 'I think this will happen,' you're forming a hypothesis. Learning to make those predictions precise and testable is one of the most practical intellectual skills you can develop.
